Dive Addicts has Utah's only certitied F.I.I. Freediving Instructors on staff!
Freediving, also known as apnea or breathhold diving, is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, including Utah! It allows divers to explore the beauty of the underwater world on one breath the way nature intended, without the encumbrance of or investment in expensive equipment. Almost anyone can learn to freedive and it’s a great activity for promoting physical fitness and stamina. It’s no wonder this fun and exciting sport continues to gain popularity worldwide.
What many don’t know is that freediving is a skill based sport. We can teach you in a matter of days what could take years of extensive experience. FII has identified the core skills needed for effective freediving which are implemented into our curriculum offering students the most effective learning experience enabling them to freedive confidently and safely. Our curriculum has proven results, whether interested in swimming on the reef, freediving with dolphins, mastering the art of spearfishing or maybe even interested in the competitive aspects, FII has a course that will have you freediving like a pro in no time.
What do I need?
For every class level, students are required to have each of the following:
Mask (any mask can work, but low volume masks are highly recommended)
Fins (full foot pocket, Long blade fins prefered)
Wetsuit (any thickness acceptable, but we'll be diving in the crater, with temps above 90ºF)
Weight Belt (rubber preffered)
Freediving is the oldest and purest form of diving. Our ancestors have held their breath and plunged into the waters to gather and hunt since we have existed as a species. Almost anyone can learn to freedive and it’s a great activity for promoting physical fitness and stamina.
Freediving is considered to be primarily skill based sport, therefore the right course focusing on the right skills and knowledge to be developed in the correct order and format can not only save you years of trial and error, but can also save your life.
Specialty Courses offer the participant specific training and expertise in the realm of interest. Spearfishing, Waterman Survivial, Basic & Advanced Freedving Safety, Intro to Monofin and more with our FII specialty courses!
